Link Up With LinkedIn Company Pages

January 5, 2011

LinkedIn may not be as flashy as Facebook, or get as much press, but this social networking site now has more than 85 million members around the world, and continues to grow – adding one new member every second.

One way to connect with those professionals is to create your own LinkedIn profile . But if you’re a business owner, you can also create a company page to showcase your products and services to the LinkedIn audience.

One of the important features of the company page is the ability to showcase product or service recommendations from your clients and customers. Peer referrals are the most valued form of advertising you can have since they help professionals weed through the clutter to make time-sensitive decisions on key purchases.

In addition, when a LinkedIn member endorses your products or services, their recommendation becomes visible to all of their connections, enabling you to reach a wider audience than you would have been able to do otherwise.  If you take the time to promote and encourage these recommendations, you can develop the most credible, authentic endorsements of your products for display on your LinkedIn Company Page.

LinkedIn has made it easy for people to recommend your page by providing the HTML code for a “recommended button” on your website or blog:

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://platform.linkedin.com/in.js“></script><script type=”in/recommendproduct” data-company=”CompanyID” data-product=”ProductID″ data-counter=”right”></script>

Your company ID can be found in the URL of your company profile. For example: http://www.linkedin.com/company/CompanyID. Replace the numbers in the “companyID” in the code above. Your Product Id can be found on the respective product pages. It’s the number that comes after “prdid=” in the URL.

Another useful feature of the company page is the analytics tab. With this feature you can see how many members visit your page, and how many follow your company. You can also see what industries, functions and companies these people come from. And you can track how visitors interact with your Careers Tab, or Products & Services Tab, how many click your promotional banners and how many contact your employees.

How to Engage People on Your Facebook Page

December 6, 2010

A Facebook business page can be an effective marketing tool IF you provide content that attracts people and engages them, so they keep coming back.  Many well-known corporate brands like Nike or Pepsi have built huge fan bases on Facebook. One reason why people like those pages is because they’re already familiar with those products.

If you’re a small or medium-sized company that’s not a household name yet, you can still develop a loyal and passionate fan base that will do business with you. Here are some examples of content you can post on your Facebook page to encourage people to engage with your brand:

  • Contests
  • Games
  • Videos
  • Photos
  • Polls
  • Events
  • Promotions
  • Discounts
  • Ask questions – What do you think?
  • Thank your fans!

You’ll have to experiment to see which strategies work best for your business. If you’d like a head start, a new study by social media management company Vitrue found that image posts are the most engaging as measured by responses, likes and shares – even more than video or text.

You’ll also have to experiment to see what time and day of the week provokes the most response. Vitrue found that posts made before noon get 65 percent more engagement than ones sent in the afternoon. But if your target audience is in a different time zone that you’re in, you’ll have to post at the time when they’ll be most likely to see it.

The best day of the week for posting varies by industry. But Vitrue found that overall Friday posts seem to generate the most engagement, with Saturday and Sunday having the least amount of response.

Meredith Communications Launches New Eco International Website

August 17, 2010

Raleigh based Meredith Communications is pleased to announce the launch of a new website for Eco International Real Estate, LLC, a general real estate brokerage company based in Florida. One of the goals of the site was to create an affordable, yet compelling website to showcase their services and capture more potential clients. Meredith Communications successfully met these goals and created an extremely powerful and easy to use site, while showcasing their team of real estate professionals and turn-key real estate services.

The new site (www.ecointernationalre.com) showcases these services within a prominent “Welcome” section on the right side of each page. The section promotes their variety of services including Buyer’s Agent, Seller’s Agent, Relocation, Property Management, Construction, Hurricane Mitigation, Energy Efficiency and Green Living Consulting. The home page also captures their local market with beautiful, professional photos of key area attractions in a large, flash photo gallery. The home page also allows the company to rotate out Featured Properties as needed.

The company prides themselves on their commitment to being more earth friendly and promoting greener lifestyles. One of the goals of the site was to create a clean and uncluttered design to allow their eco-friendly logo and tagline, “Delivering a WORLD of difference”, to quickly stand out on the site. A “Living Green” page is also included on the site which is dedicated to their commitment to green living.

A significant feature of the site is the Home Search section which provides a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) feed using IDX Broker. This feature allows visitors to easily search all available homes and real estate listings in the local MLS database. The search features offers a variety of options to visitors including by City, County, Zip Code, Price, Days on Market, Bedrooms, Baths and Square footage. Visitors can also search by type of real estate including residential, commercial, rental, lots and land for sale. And if a visitor wants even more options, the site provides an Advanced Search feature offering over 20 advanced search criteria. For visitors who are more visual in their search, the site offers a Map Search as well. An Address Search and Listing ID Search are also available. These extensive search options are ideal to capture Eco International Real Estate’s visitors and provide them with the valuable real estate information they seek.

For visitors seeking more assistance in their real estate needs, the site offers a variety of quick options to request information. The site offers an easy to locate Contact Us page with a short request for information form. Throughout the copy on the site, strategic “register online” links are also available. For visitors interested in upcoming news and updates, all they need to do is provide their email address to be added to the Eco International enewsletter list. The enewsletter sign up is prominently located on the top right of the site.

The site also includes an integrated blog with real estate related updates along with local general interest stories. The news feed displays in a prominent location on the home page which is an ideal location to grab the eyes of prospective clients.

For updates to the site, Eco International has access to a WordPress Content Management System (CMS) providing them the opportunity to easily maintain their site. The CMS allows for adding unlimited pages, copy, photos, videos, and listings. For example, the website currently features a page dedicated to exploring Sarasota, their key real estate market with numerous helpful links for visitors to their site.
